William Powell-Robert Ferguson papers, 1829-1833.

This collection consists of the 1829 last will and testament of William Powell of Woodford County, Kentucky, and a court document of the 5th Judicial Circuit Court of Missouri. The court document, dated Sept. 28, 1833, is an instruction for constables to summon John Dawson for payment due Robert or Thomas Ferguson.

The first Circuit Court in Daviess County was established in July 1837 as part of Missouri's Fifth Judicial Circuit. Court was held at Elisha B. Creekmore's house near the county seat of Gallatin. The court became part of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit in 1839 and moved to the Gallatin courthouse when construction was completed in 1843.
